Kickstart End of Season Tournament
WOW! A remarkable morning for Chesterfield Town FC all 8 lads played brilliantly today in what was a very tight tournament and more importantly they all played with a smile on their face.
Chesterfield Town FC were drawn in a group of 6 teams playing on a league basis against strong opposition including Mansfield Athletic, Mansfield Town, Quarrydale United, Robin Hood Colts and Selston FC.
There were some fantastic goals today from Billy Scollick, Alfie Bowler, Rhys Murtagh and Riley Skinner. All of our games were extremely tight with no more than one goal being the difference in every game and only conceding one goal in each game.
With 2 wins, 2 loses and 1 draw Chesterfield Town end the day only one point behind winners Quarrydale United and level on points with runners up Mansfield Town, finishing 3rd overall by goal difference.
Chesterfield Town FC u8's have approached every game this season with excellent team spirit and we were witness to that again today with some fantastic football from all the lads.

u8's faced AFC Mansfield in probably the best game of the season. A really tight game, that was contested strongly for the whole 40 minutes. Chesterfield defended brilliantly, and looked dangerous on the attack. Rhys Murtagh captained well and Alfie Bowler was again named man of the match. Chesterfield U8's looked out of sorts on a cold, wet and muddy Sunday against Sherwood Colliery. Things were fairly even for most of the match, but Sherwood finished strongly and punished Chesterfield for some sloppy defending. Conditions made it very difficult for Chesterfield, who usually like to pass the ball around and break with speed. W move on, with emphasis now on defending as a team. The lads will probably learn more from games like today than when running out convincing winners. Some wonderful defensive goal keeping today gave Dylan Yearl the much deserved man of the match award.

After a slow start to the game that saw us conceed two goals in the first half, we were desperately unlucky not to pick up any points by the end of it. After being camped out in the Rawmarsh half for the second half, we deservedly grabbed a goal, but their keeper pulled off some terrific saves to keep them in it and deny us a single point! Great second half performance from our lads, every one of them showing real character and determination. Some days it's just not menat to be and unfortunately, today was one of those days.
