Wiley, Pashley, Martin, Hollingworth |
| We
finished our league season off with a creditable 4-4 draw at Renishaw
SC who have finished third in the league. It was a very good game
to end the season on. Like most of our games this season we played
some good football and created some good chances but let some soft
goals in. Our goals came from Dwayne Wiley, Chris Pashley, Scott Martin
and Neil Hollingworth. . |

| 27 Apr | A | Tibshelf | D |
1-1
|
Wiley |
| We
drew at Tibshelf 1-1 in the league tonight. It was an evenly matched,
hard fought affair on a tight bobbly pitch. After going in 0-0 at
half-time we fell behind but kept battling before Dwayne Wiley headed
us a deserved equaliser. . |

| 18 Apr | H | Renishaw Social Club | L |
2-4
|
Woolven, Clement |
| This
match summed up our season in 90 minutes. We played quite well but
missed lots of good chances and then conceed soft goals after leading
2-1 with 20 minutes to go. Our scorers were Andy Woolven and Mark
Clement. Former England international Chris Waddle made an appearance
for Renishaw in this match and showed us some nice touches. , |

| 2 Apr | H | Tibshelf | W |
5-2
|
Woolven 2, Hollingworth, Parkin, og |
| Our
Mens Saturday Team played at home on Saturday in the league and we
beat Tibshelf 5-2. With some of our more experienced players missing
we fielded a young side so the result, against a fellow mid table
side was encouraging. Andy Woolven gave us the lead from the penalty
spot after Danny Groves was brought down and then Woolven ran through
to make it 2-0 at half-time. On own goal gave us a 3-0 lead and when
Tibshelf pulled one back Neil Holingworth got a touch from a Matt
Slack corner to make it 4-1. Young Tyrone Parkin, returning from a
long injury, got our last goal after Tibshelf had made it 4-2. . |

Rigby, Dickens, Spencer |
| We
travelled to play a strong Nags Head side in the Quarter-final of
the Byron Cup and were beaten 5-4 on penalties after the two teams
were locked at 3-3 after extra. It was a good team performance by us as we were never in font and battled all the way through and could have won it. Substitutes Danny Rigby and Dean Spencer got our goals either side of Shane Dickens rounding off a good team move. . |
|||||
| 19 Mar | A | Hopflower | L |
1-4
|
Hollingworth |
| Our
Mens Saturday Team played a league game today away at Hopflower and
were beaten 4-1. It was our worst peformance of the season and it
was men against boys for much of the game. Neil Hollingworth, our
best player on the day, popped up with our goal. . |
|||||
| 12 Mar | H | Hopflower | L |
1-2
|
Woolven |
| Our
Saturday Mens Team played a league game at home to Hopflower today
who had lost only once in the league all season. The game was very
much like last week and we started well and we lead 1-0 after 70 minutes
thanks to Andrew Woolven's first half goal but went down 2-1. We were
a bit 'patched up' but we can't seem find that winning mentality in
the big games I am affraid although there some good individual performances
especially from Craig Purcell, Matt Bray, Neil Hollingworth and Mark
Turner. , |
|||||
| 5 Mar | H | Holmefield Arms | L |
2-3
|
Woolven 2 |
| Our
Saturday Mens Team were beaten 3-2 at home in the league today against
second placed Holmefield Arms. The scoreline does not tell the story
though. We went 2-0 up thanks to well taken goals from Andy Woolven
and we could have had more. Holmefield then got a lifeline scoring
from a disputed penalty to make it 2-1 at the break. Dean Spencer's
penalty was then saved as we missed the chance to go 3-1 up and were
made to pay when Holmefield equalised after our keeper Styring looked
to have been fouled. Holmefield then took the lead and with their
keeper in fine form it was the winner. We played well though and definately
deserved to get something from the game. . |

| 26 Feb | A | Shirebrook Rangers | W |
5-0
|
Spencer 2, Woolven, Purcell, Dickens |
| Our
Mens Saturday Team gained revenge from an earlier defeat to Shirebrook
Rangers by beating them 5-0 at their ground in the league. Despite
dominating for long periods of the first half we had few serious attempts
on goal and went in 0-0 at the interval. Kicking up hill in the second
half seemed to suit us though and when one goal went in the home side
rarely threatened as Dean Spencer 2, Andy Woolven, Craig Purcell and
Shane Dickens got the goals. . |
|||||
| 12 Feb | A | New Houghton Villa | W |
4-0
|
Woolven 2, Milburn, Spencer |
| Our
Saturday Mens Team picked up three useful points today in the league
with a 4-0 away win at New Houghton Villa. Andy Woolven cashed in
on a defensive mix up on 20 minutes to give us a 1-0 half-time lead.
After the home side had started the second half well Woolven broke
away to make it 2-0 for us before captain Paul Milburn got forward
and scored with a good header. Striker Dean Spencer got the reward
his efforts deserved with the fourth. . |
|||||
| 5 Feb | H | Nags Head | L |
0-2
|
|
| Our
Saturday Mens Team lost 2-0 at home in the league against Nags Head.
Despite us having to make several changes we played quite well and
deserved to get something out of the game which was played in difficult
conditions. Despite the defeat the performances of teenagers Chris
Pashley and Matthew Slack were plus points. . |
|||||

5-3
|
Spencer 2, Woolven, J Dixon, Hollingworth |
| Our
Mens Saturday Team picked up three useful points in a 5-3 away win
in the league against Middle FC at Whitwell today. We went in 4-0
up at the interval thanks to goals from Andy Woolven, Dean Spencer,
James Dixon and Neil Hollingworth. After Spencer got his second to
give us a 5-0 lead well into the second half we got sloppy and the
home side punished some of our mistakes. . |
|||||
| 22 Jan | H | Holmewood & Heath | W |
6-0
|
Woolven 4, Dickens, Straw |
| Our
Mens Saturday Team entertained Holmewood and Heath in the league and
we gave a good performance to record a 6-0 win. Striker Shane Dickens
got his first goal for the club with a superb volley on 25 minutes
before Andy Woolven, coming on as a sub for the injured Mark Turner,
helped himself to four goals. Our other goal came from Andy Straw
who gave a very good performance in the middle of the park. We have
been playing quite well and threatening goals and today they came! . |
|||||
| 15 Jan | H | Clowne Villa Reserves | D |
1-1
|
Walters |
| Our
Mens Satrday Team were held at home today 1-1 in the league by Clowne
Villa Reserves. We fell behind early on but dominated for long periods
and when Ash Walters equailised for us just before half-time we ought
to have gone on and won the game. The nearest we came was when our
best player Matt Bray hit the bar with the very last kick of the game.
We put in a decent performance but these are games that we should
be winning. . |

3-2
(aet)
|
Rigby 2, Walters |
| Our
Mens Saturday Team finally returned to action today in an away game
in the first round of the Byron Cup. We won 3-2 after extra-time against
New Houghton Villa. We had the better of the chances in the first
half and had three goals disalowed for offside. The home side took
the lead midway through the second half but we kept 'plugging' away
and 5 minutes from time Ash Walters scored from close range to take
the game into extra-time. Here substitute Danny Rigby, on debut, scored
twice and we were cruising at 3-1 until we concedded with 5 minutes
left to leave the nerves 'jangling' a little but we thouroughly deserved
the win overall. . |
|||||
| 20 Nov | H | Shirebrook Rangers | L | 0-2 | |
| Our
Mens Saturday Team played at home in the league yesterday against
Shirebrook Rangers and lost 2-0. We were the better side until they
scored on the hour mark at which point we stopped playing. A very
disappointing result. . |
|||||
| 13 Nov | A | Clowne Villa Reserves | D | 1-1 | Woolven |
| Our
Mens Saturday Team played away in the league yesterday against Clowne
Villa Reserves where we drew 1-1. It wasn't our best performance in
a scrappy game . We took the lead through Andy Woolven just before
half time but conceed a bad goal just after half time. . |
|||||
| 6 Nov | H | New Houghton Villa | W | 4-0 | Straw, Woolven, S Dixon, Milburn |
| Our
Saturday Mens Team got back to winning ways today with a 4-0 home
win in the league against New Houghton Villa. We struggled to find
a way through until early in the second half when, after our keeper
John Styring had brilliantly saved a penalty, Andy Straw gave us the
lead. Andy Woolven quickly got our second before captain Simon Dixon
hit a screamer from 25 yards out. Right back Paul Milburn added a
fourth in the last minute. It was hard going for an hour but once
we scored we relaxed and played some good football. . |
|||||
| 30 Oct | A | Nags Head | D | 1-1 | Woolven |
| Our
Mens Saturday Team picked up a useful point in a hard fought 1-1 draw
at Nags Head in the league yesterday. Andy Woolven gave us the lead
in mid way through the first half after Dean Spencer had flicked on
Paul Milburn's throw in. Nags equalised just before the interval from
the spot after Neil Hollingworth was adjudged to have handled. An
improved performance from us with a draw being about the right result. . |
|||||
| 23 Oct | H | Middle FC | L | 1-2 | Straw |
| Our
Mens Saturday Team played at home in the league yesterday against
Middle FC. We lost 2-1. They scored after two minutes and with two
minutes to go. We had enough possession to have got something out
of the game. Andy Straw got our goal just after half-time and Paul
Milburn hit the bar shortly after that. We didn't work their keeper
enough though in what was a disappointing result. . |
|||||
| 16 Oct | A | Wirksworth Town Res | L | 0-1 | |
| Our
Saturday Mens Team played away in the Derbysire Cup yesterday at Wirksworth
Town Reserves. We lost 1-0. We gave an improved performance and dominated
most of the game but just couldn't score. Then on 70 minutes after
Dean Spencer had hit the post for us they broke away to score. . |
|||||
| 9 Oct | A | Holmefield Arms | L | 0-5 | |
| Mens
Saturday Team played in the league today
away to Holmefield Arms and we somehow lost 5-0. We wern't that bad
really. At 1-0 down Simon Dixon missed a penalty and at 2-0 down we
hit the bar twice. Not really our day, missed chances and some poor
defending. . |
|||||
| 2 Oct | A | Holmewood & Heath | W | 7-1 | Pemberton 3, Woolven 2, Straw, Spencer |
| After
going 1-0 to an early penalty the lads did really well, playing some
good football and scoring some cracking goals. None was better than
Jimmy Pemberton's left foot drive to equalise although Andy Woolven's
second was nearly from the half-way line as he spotted the keeper
off his line. Pemberton scored a hat-trick and Woolven got two with
the others coming from Andy Straw and Dean Spencer. . |
|||||
| 18 Sept | A | All Inn | L | 1-7 | Purcell |
| Our
Mens Saturday Team played a re-arranged league fixture away to champions
All Inn. We lost 7-1. Our scorer was Craig Purcell. We actually lead until the stroke of half-time and we had hit the post as well! . |
|||||
| 11 Sept | A | Wheatsheaf Buxton | W | 5-0 | Parkin, J Dixon, Hollingworth, Purcell, Walters |
| Saturday
Men's Team won 5-0 away to Wheatsheaf. Although Town dominated long
periods of the first half the score remained 0-0 at half time. Chesterfield
took the lead when new signing Tyrone Parkin scored from the penalty
spot after Andy Straw was brought down by the keeper. James Dixon
then headed in from close range before Neil Hollingworth, Craig Purcell
and Ash Walters completed the scoring. . |
|||||
| 4 Sept | H | All Inn | L | 0-6 | |
|
Our Saturday Mens Team played their first league game yesterday which was at home to All Inn, who were last years league and cup winners when they were called Cricketers. We were without a few key players and although we played well in patches we shipped a few late goals and finished up losing 6-0. |
